Barnt Green Fishing Club
Nestled in the lee of the Lickey Hills, Barnt Green Fishing Club holds the fishing rights to all 5 Lakes and pools on the Barnt Green Waters Estate along with a short section of the Birmingham to Worcester Canal.
Formed in 1889, our well-established fishery shares its history with that of the UK angling Industry. As the compensation reservoir for the River Arrow, Lower Bittell Reservoir and its feeder pools ensured that the Needle Mills of Redditch and Studley always had sufficient water. These very Mills were where the first mass produced Fishing Hooks were first mass produced by Partridge of Redditch.
The purpose and mission of the club is to provide all-year-round quality recreational fishing in a quiet, safe and tranquil environment. To achieve this we have a limited membership that will ensure the banks are never crowded and the fishery is never overfished. There is no public access to the estate and no day tickets are issued although members may invite guests to fish.
The club has its headquarters at Upper Bittell Reservoir and shares a clubhouse house, including a bar, with the Sailing Club. Boats are available to use on three of our waters. Sonic probes are installed on both of the large trout waters to disperse any water-borne algae, promoting oxygenation and improved water clarity and our stocks are protected in the warmer months by a Solar Aeration system on Lower Bittell Reservoir, providing an oxygen-rich environment for our trout all year round.
